The dominant feature of Ostrava
One of the dominants of Ostrava was completed and inaugurated in 1986. During its existence, it has become a significant sports and cultural center and a popular venue for national, European and world championships, concerts by the biggest music stars, sports tournaments and other events. The arena has undergone several modernizations during its existence.
The hall is the home environment of the HC VÍTKOVICE RIDERS hockey team.


The name Ostravar Arena
Since 2016, it has been called OSTRAVAR ARÉNA. Currently, OSTRAVAR ARÉNA is one of the sports venues belonging to the company VÍTKOVICE ARÉNA, a.s. With a capacity of up to 11,000 spectators it is one of the largest multi-purpose halls in the Czech Republic and, thanks to modern technical equipment, a number of variants of its internal layout and the breadth of services provided, it can offer the perfect background for even the most demanding events. Among the most important sporting events that the arena has hosted are the 2004, 2015 and 2024 Ice Hockey World Championships, the 2017 European Figure Skating Championships, the 1994 and 2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, Davis Cup and Fed Cup matches, and the 2010 Women’s Basketball World Championship.
